Training Capabilities – Medical Disaster Preparedness Training
Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) Training
The UNLV Institute for Security Studies offers medical disaster preparedness training to ready first responders and hospital staff for mass fatality incidents, mass triage, decontamination, explosive event trauma, and facility disaster planning. This course will enhance participants’ preparedness for real-world incidents and augment their abilities to update response plans. Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) training presents disaster management topics in a user-friendly format that will enable participants to apply course techniques in their own professions.

BDLS meets the 29 CFR1910.120 requirement for Hazardous Materials Awareness.

Participation in BDLS qualifies for 7.5 American Medical Association (AMA) Category 1 credits and qualifies for .8 continuing education units (CEUs) from UNLV.
