Training Capabilities – Medical Disaster Preparedness Training
Advanced Disaster Life Support Training (ADLS)
The UNLV Institute for Security Studies offers advanced medical disaster preparedness training to ready first responders and hospital staff for mass fatality incidents, mass triage, decontamination, explosive event trauma, and facility disaster planning. After successfully completing Basic Disaster Life Support, participants will benefit from Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS), a course that combines instruction with the hands-on application of concepts taught in Basic Disaster Life Support.

What can you expect? Small group interactive sessions will allow you to answer a series of challenging disaster management questions in a tabletop setting. You will also participate in a series of skill stations designed to reinforce concepts first introduced in BDLS. Practical skill stations include:
In addition, you will utilize high-fidelity simulators to practice the treatment of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) casualties. The American College of Emergency Physicians endorses the National Disaster Life Support (NDLS) courses as the gold standard in all-hazards training for medical response to mass casualty incidents.

ADLS meets the CFR1910.120 requirement for Hazardous Materials Operations.

Participation in the ADLS course qualifies for 13 American Medical Association (AMA) Category 1 credits and qualifies for 1.6 continuing education units (CEUs) from UNLV.
