Research – Summer Research
Award Program
Advancing research through University partnerships
The UNLV Institute for Security Studies collaborates with university faculty and academic departments to advance research pertaining to many areas of homeland security. In partnership with UNLV’s Division of Educational Outreach, the ISS introduced its Summer Research Award Program this year. The program provides opportunity for UNLV faculty to conduct research on security-related topics and to prepare white papers requested by state and Federal agencies.
Participants awarded funding will perform their work from June 4 to August 10, 2007. Throughout the summer, the selected academic faculty members will conduct research and prepare papers for submission to requesting agencies in October. The goal of the program is to produce at least three papers for use with a government organization in Nevada or Washington, D.C.
This program is just one of the many ways the ISS works with UNLV researchers to expand knowledge in a number of fields associated with homeland security.
