2007 Western Regional Preparedness Conference
UNLV’s Institute for Security Studies, in cooperation with The Area Health Education Center of Southern Nevada, co-hosted the Western National Preparedness Conference 2007 at the MGM Grand Hotel July 9-11.
The Institute of Security Studies also sponsored post-conference medical training, conducted from July 12-14, which included the National Disaster Life Support Foundation’s Basic Disaster Life Support and Advanced Disaster Life Support courses.
The conference was designed to bring regional and national experts together for emergency preparedness and disaster response learning opportunities. It also provided first responders and hospital staff information about planning for public health disasters and coping with injuries resulting from exposure to biological, chemical or radiological terrorist events.
Ross Bryant, director of training for the Institute for Security Studies, was recognized in a letter from Nevada Senator Harry Reid for his contribution to the organization and conduct of the conference. Bryant also served as master of ceremonies at the conference.
