ISS trains area nurses in disaster preparedness

The UNLV Institute for Security Studies offers medical disaster preparedness training to prepare first responders and hospital staff for mass casualty incidents.

On April 14, 20 participants – including students from the UNLV School of Nursing and from area hospitals – attended Basic Disaster Life Support training. The training the ability of participants to deal with real-world incidents and augments their abilities to prepare emergency response plans. The next day, April 15, 17 of the participants stayed on to undergo the training necessary to become certified disaster life support trainers themselves.
