Energy Security Policy Initiative

FUTURE PLANS

In addition to broad research areas, the Energy Security Policy Initiative includes two strategic programs: (1) The Political Economy of U.S. Energy Security Policy: Building a Secure and Sustainable Energy Portfolio and (2) Global Energy Security: Strategies for America and its Allies. As part of these program areas, the Initiative aims to organize and host a series of workshops, policy summits and security forums.

During 2009-2010, ISS will host the following activities:

  1. A two-day roundtable “Building a Secure and Sustainable Energy Portfolio: What are the Challenges?”

  2. A workshop of taskforce members, “U.S. Energy Security Strategy: Addressing the Challenges”

  3. An Issue Summit: “Critical Issues in Energy Security” (November 2009, Washington, DC)

  4. A two-day global policy summit, “Energy Security for America and its Allies”

  5. Four half-day security forums

  6. The production of two edited books on energy security: International Perspectives on Energy Security and U.S. Energy Security Policy: 2030 and Beyond
