Executive Director Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Institute for Security Studies’ website. We at the Institute are pleased to be an integral part of UNLV. As the hub of the university’s homeland security and counter-terrorism education, training, research and policy analysis activities, our job is to coordinate with the many talented professionals within the university and develop opportunities for UNLV to contribute solutions that address security concerns for the Nation. Our products and services, many of which you’ll read about on this site, tell the story of our successes.

With the goal of devising practical and cost-effective solutions to security- and terrorism-related challenges, we develop and offer training to first responders and emergency management personnel. We’re likewise dedicated to mobilizing and coordinating academic initiatives and sponsoring public outreach activities in these areas, striving to expand the body of knowledge.

We draw upon the considerable resources and capabilities within the university, supplementing them with the expertise of top-flight academic and business partners. The result is a strong network of academicians, government leaders, respected business people, and hands-on service providers who contribute to our cutting-edge research and training capabilities.
